I just bought a 1924 5 Franc piece. The edge is plain (no legend or reeding). Other Liechtenstein coins I have, all Krone denominations, have an edge legend KLAR UND FEST. Were the Franc coins plain edged or are they also supposed to have the incuse edge legend?
Thanks

I thought Liechtenstein used/uses Swiss Franc? Maybe it's a special issue or something. Standard swiss 5F coins always had/has excuse and incuse lettering, if I'm not mistaken.
Does your coin read Liechtenstein or is this just an assumption?

The Principality of Lichtenstein uses the Swiss Franc, but issues its own coinage in small amounts. It's kind of like San Marino or Vatican coinage.

Liechtenstein issued 1, 2, and 5 krone coins from 1900 to 1915 linked to the Austrian krone. After WW1, they adopted the franc tied to the Swiss franc. In 1924 they issued half franc, 1, 2, and 5 franc coins. Here is a photo of the coin

Many thanks. I sent the coin to IGC to check its authenticity.

I never heard of a plain-edge variety or pattern of this type.

Thanks. SCWC has no info on the edge. We'll see what ICG says. Hope it's authentic buy ...

ICG graded it as AU58 Details. Says the edge had been filed!
