Mostly silver bullion but I'd buy gold and platinum also. I just carry around a small sack of silver dimes and would like to change it to just bullion bars like small ones or rounds. I'd like them to be dime sized and quarter sized.
I trade silver dimes and quarters for other things a lot so I'd rather not waste coins that a collector could use on a trade to someone who would probably take it to a cash for gold group.

What's the best type of bullion to carry for trading? Little ingots or rounds? I'm sure most of you wouldn't carry it but I like to. You'd be surprised about what you could trade some people silver for.

Has anyone here had their own design done in bullion? I'm just curious by who and how much it cost and what the minimum was.

Provident Metals is another good source for bullion. Both Provident and JM offer free shipping with $99/$100 orders.
I think you should contact a private mint to get pricing for your own design. I'm sure the price will depend on which metal, quantity, and the weight of your design. It probably isn't cheap.

Just ran to my guys shop and we talked a lot and fakes came up and someone tried to sell him fake NTR bullion ounces silver plate ounce and a half weight same size as a real one. The guy got them from China. They looked perfect but overweight and stuck to a magnet. It really bugs me that so much fake gold and silver bullion and coins are coming from China..

Refiners. Anyone else is a middleman.
If you're trading silver dimes for what you want, and you want silver in dime-size quantities then I think you're doing it right - your skill in trading surpasses the need for .999 purity. If you want gold, go for 22K and higher, as it has more value overall.

I only thought of carrying bullion so I didn't waste coins that might get melted. And I have no particular traders here in Cali I'm from jax Florida but I've traded with random people here. I'll approach anyone that has something I like with the idea of traded silver. People in most cases take the idea very well and it works out almost every time.
I'm 24 and never owned a credit card and have a debit card to withdraw cash. I've always paid in cash and one didn't have any but I always have silver in my pocket or in my bag and I tried using silver as a trade and it worked so I just never stopped.

@R1W3D, It sure is interesting the difference in demographics from one part of the US to the other. Here in the north, it's cash cash cash only. Those that I deal with have absolutely zero interest in PM's, mostly because they don't understand them. I'm usually mocked, or people get up and leave the room if PM's are mentioned. I quit pushing them a while ago.

Wow that's pretty weird. That surprises the heck out of me.. sure I've found a couple of people that don't want silver or gold mostly because they don't believe gold eagles are real gold coins or that there is such a thing as silver quarters dimes dollars etc. I carry around several different us mint silver and I like to ask people if they have ever seen a silver dollar for instance and it blows my mind how many places I sit and eat where they have never heard of one.
My grandpa likes to play the game "do y'all accept federal reserve notes" literally every time he pays in cash I'm not kidding. it use to bug me in public but being around him almost every day I got used to it and I actually learned a lot like how little most Americans know about our monetary system. Not that I thought it was a good thing but I learned that most random people do t know. I like to teach people about it sometimes when I have time to kill and they are interested in my 1921 Morgan if I show it.

I'd say North Texas is one of the more PM-friendly parts of the country. But even here, publically showing an interest in PMs carries a very real stigma in professional and business circles. Don't get me wrong, I'm quite confident that a lot of very smart and business savvy people in Dallas/Ft Worth absolutely do buy/stack PMs to meet their own goals and hedge strategies. However, outside of your LCS, local flea market stall, or gun show booth, trying to talk PMs with an outsider will, more often than not, just mark you as a financial rube.

I'm sure it does with some people but I don't approach everyone with the idea of trading just people that look like they would at least listen to the idea of it. Sometimes I come across a person that has something interesting to me or a private store with the person they could have a pocket clip of a knife sticking out that I recognize the brand of I say something about it and ask to see it. If I like the condition of it I'll ask what they know about silver coins then explain it to them if they don't know. I propose a trade of silver for the knife but I do give them the chance to look up what I'm talking about on their phone if they want so they know I'm not just joking with them. Some people trade some people don't.
If its a small hardware store or other private shop I have sometimes asked to speak with the owner and go through the same process of explaining silver coins then ask to make trades for whatever they deal in.
I don't always do this though just sometimes I feel like a trade rather than using cash. Ive traded other things before but precious metals are easer in most cases. A lot of the people are pretty happy with what they get out of the trade because they like having silver coins in hand.
