Can't let the year go by without some rehashed product featuring a new coin to receive the reverse proof treatment. http://www.coinworld.com/news/rever...set.all.html17,000 max $57.95/set 5 sets per household limit. ETA: December 2015 Looks like a repeat of the 2014 Coin & Currency set with a special coin contained only in that set. But that was 3x more at 50,000 at a 1/4th of the cost of the upcoming Coin & Chronicles sets. Looks like ALL 4 presidents will get this RP treatment in a Coin & Chronicles set... At least it will pump some life into the Presidential $1 series. One of these years I expect a RP proof or RP silver proof set? Edited by Bizybackson 04/30/2015 8:47 pm

Interesting they choose Truman for the special set, reverse proof and silver medal. And none of the others.
Also, they do not state how much silver will be in the medal. 1 5/16 inch ... Maybe 1/4oz
And I have to wonder 17,000 mintage sounds very low.
Either way .... I plan on ordering one. With that mintage it might be, trying to order one.

Yeah even the big boys will have a hard time trying to get that few... I must save my money for it just the mintage makes it seem like a winner, regardless of the RP which makes it even better. Good luck to all!

GR58, my understanding from the fourth paragraph was that all the sets would contain the RP and silver medal or am I missing something?

From my reading, the Presidential medal will be offered in 1 5/16" in bronze, perhaps the antique finish like the equivalent FDR medal AND a 40.6mm silver version of the same, minted from a one ounce ASE .999 silver blank. The 17,000 max is for Truman, Eisenhower and LB Johnnson, JFK is upped to 25,000. Consider that the special proof dimes in the MoD set are maxed out at 75,000 so these will be low, low mintage making them after market winners. There are FOUR different sets, one for each of the presidents featured this year on the $1 coin. It is confusing what the article says, typical misinformation from the Mint. But it probably means the RP proof set is NOT going to be offered this year, since there were hints of that to come in a Mint survey taken last year. Special reverse proof at 17,000 & 25,000 pieces total = winner. Compare that to the regular S proof which probably will be in excess of 1M+.

As I mentioned above, that is what the FDR set has..but...this one specifically states (link in 1st post) that the silver medal will be: Quote:One 1-5/16" silver Harry S. Truman Presidential .999 silver medal (produced in Philadelphia - no mint mark). That is NOT an ASE blank but the size of the bronze medal in the FDR set...and the Truman set does NOT include a bronze medal

Weird. Don't know how they can justify the $57.95 price then, that price point would be for a 1oz silver medal. A 1 5/16th" size medal is 33mm and bullion in that size is usually 1/2oz. unless the Mint plans to strike a piedfort medal twice as thick... Anyway the take away from this announcement are the four RP coins with their low mintage. The medals distract from that and are superfluous. There are more collectors of the Presidential $1 series than exomunia collectors.

Sounds like it's going to repeat situation of the 2014 American $1 Coin and Currency Set, with the RP being the star of the set. I'll be picking up a set or two.

Whoa! The RP is going to be in all four sets. The Eisenhower is capped at 17,000 as well. If the RP forces an ordering frenzy and keeps be from getting my Eisenhower C&C I am going to be a little upset. I hate that they are all coming out in December. I really need to make sure I budget this properly, since it looks like I will be getting all four sets now.
