AlexS,

It appears the coin has been holed to wear as a necklace, so you would probably only get gold melt value for it if it is genuine. Gold wgt for these pieces was .48096 troy oz @ current spot $802 = $385.73.

wow I have to say my first impression was something didn't look right with the coin in question here but without a better picture I am not confident enough to say it isn't genuine but am not confident enough to say it is either. Is there any way to get a better picture of the coin so we can see what those dark areas actually look like looking directly down on the coin and a little closer instead of at a angle like those pictures are taken? Please believe me I am not in any way stating I think this coin is fake I would just like some better pictures to be certain one way or another before I make any statement at all about its authenticity

I'm not sure either if it's genuine. We do need some better pics.

Sadly if it is real it's only worth melt as Seated said

If you can't get better pictures then give us a weight .

The coin looks like a plated replica to me .

I'm with Bryan, when I first saw it I also thought it was a fake. Then I thought that it might be one of those tiny replica coins?

My first thought when I opened the pictures was "Looks fake"
I've never seen any gold with dark spots on it like that except for low karat gold jewelry that had been in the ocean too long, never a gold coin.

I also would like to see some better pictures before making a final judgement.

the color looks off to me also but still some better pictures are a must but I have to say this is the hardest part of being a forum member, having to tell another member that their precious coin they have may not be what they thought it was

I looked and I happen to have the same date of Gold Eagle in my dansco7070 and here is pictures of it to compare the color and stuff to
