Hi,

I recently cleaned what I believe to be a Tetricus I antoninianus. Just curious how common or uncommon his coins are, since he only held power for a few years in the Gaulic empire until Aurelian reeled him back in.

It seems to be a match for the following coin listed on VCoins, but missing some letters on the obverse and reverse:

Thanks!

SPES PVBLICA is a common issue and Tetricus' coins are very numerous in top condition due to a large hoard (tens of thousands) of Gallic empire currency found in the UK this century. They also turn up commonly in uncleaned lots from the area - the rarity of such things are only reflected when you take the coins from other regions where they are entirely unrepresented.
