Now that's inventive

I bought a small coin through paypal, and seller sent it in a 000 mailer, I know it weighs less than an ounce, and when I looked at the postage it said Media Mail. I don't even know how much that would possibly cost, but I really got a kick out of it

Talk about milking the cow

edit: Wait a second, maybe the seller actually lost money. How much is the minimum cost to send Media Mail? ........$2.69?

I've heard of people shipping dansco albums because they're "books" and media mail is cheaper. Sellers are just trying to save their bottom line I guess.

Anything 3oz and under is $1.92 or something close to that. The guy must have cut it close on his profit margin lol

Honestly, if you're selling stuff where this is an important consideration, you're selling the wrong stuff.

I ordered a variety of flips and they arrived in a USPS priority box, wrapped with paper and sent media mail.

I used media mail for college textbooks I sold on Amazon. I know it is cheaper than first-class package but not sure about for coins that weigh an ounce or less. I am not sure, did it come with free tracking? If not mine as well use a stamp.

It was only a $15 coin, and yes it was free shipping. It was a pre paid label, and the actual weight on the label said "1lb Media Mail rate." Is it possible it costs less to ship a pound of media mail than an ounce first class?

If it's not a form of media, it is not allowable to ship at media mail rates. Obviously this got through but the post office should have returned it to the sender postage due. All media mail is subject to inspection and nothing but the media item is allowed in the package.
