I was bidding on this until the listing was pulled. The die clashing is intense.

Do you think someone offered the seller big bucks? Or maybe someone pointed it out and now seller wanted to keep it?

I suspect somebody threw money at him. Clashing even of this magnitude is not unexpected for 1814 - Overton implied it was the single-worst year for clashing. I think the buyer is seeing the relatively-scarce uncracked early die state of O-104, and needed it for his collection.

I hate when that happens to me. I always ask why they pulled it.

I try to be as morally-clear as I can when selling on ebay, but I don't list from altruism. For the right money I'll end an auction. Haven't been that lucky in the 16 years I've been doing it, but I would.

I've seen plenty of sellers pull items when it looks like they won't get the desired bids, it really irks me that this allowed after there have been bids placed. If the seller needs a certain price, they should list it as Buy It Now.

The trouble with BIN's is they don't suit the mentality of the typical coin collector. Look into your own head for a moment.

We want to cherrypick. We want to get the price which beats the seller - not because we hate the seller but because we want the thrill of victory after a good hunt. And we will bid the price above retail for that feeling.

We're not as smart as we think, sometimes.

There's a very good reason why I used the term "we," because it includes myself.
