Cardboard 2x2's? They'll almost certainly be mylar or similar - all you need is to feel a little "crackle" when you flex the clear coating with a fingertip. Same goes for the clear plastic flips - crackly, making you think they'll take a crease. PVC-softened stuff will be soft, bendy and flexible.

IF you recently purchased them, they SHOULD be safe for any coins. Unfortunately as you already see they do not have anything printed on them as to who made them, where they were made or what they are made of. I don't know why but so far all the years I've been using them, buying them, etc., never found any that states what they really are made of.

to CCF. If you got them recently they should ok. 2x2 now days have Mylar which is safe. There are some good brands and some not so good brands out there. Look for the ones that are thin, some have thick cardboard. Look for the ones with clear windows, some are cloudy. When you staple them make sure to flatten the staples unless you have a flat stapler. I don't know if cardboard flips have ever had PVC. The film in them has to be so thin, I don't even think it would work.

From what I've read on this site, most say it may cause more damage trying to clean a proof coin....maybe there is a certain coin cleaner that would work, but I have no clue...Hopefully others will reply & let you know. Unless you get rid of finger prints right away they are forever. John1

yes as stated most certainly mylar, I've never seen PVC 2x2 cardboard flips, only in 2x2 (and other sizes) of two pocket folding flips, also PVC is common in the 3-ring binder pages that hold the 2x2 holders. Join the ANA, shop at a legitimate shop like wizard coin supply, ( ANA members get a good discount), listen to the Coin Show Radio they are giving away hundreds of free ANA memberships, if you can't afford one yet. remember questions are never an issue here at CCF, ask away, we are here to help!
