I got this coin from my son-in-law who has some vending machines. It is green colored but appears to have copper color undertone. I don't have a scale to weigh it but am wondering if there is a safe way to remove the corrosion. From previous posts similar to this I am assuming it is the product of one of those high school sciece projects but I would still like to see whats underneath the green corrosion without damaging the coin.

Any and all ideas are appreciated

This is a ground coin found while tilling soil or pulling weeds, etc. Might also have been under a washing machine or under a car mat. Who knows? No worry about ruining the coin. It is already ruined. Just spend it as is.

BTW, the folks that clean out the car wash vacuums find all kinds of these. My late father-in-law owned a chain of car washes and got them all the time.

I found a 1976 D Roosevelt dime that had this green corrosion on it. It was under a vending machine that was always outside in front of a store for over 10 years. The store has been since knocked down and they have completely rebuilt a new store (an office max has taken over). I still have the coin. It's somewhat sentimental because that store I found A LOT of coinage in the coin star there. I used to go there almost daily.

Could also be a "fountain coin".
