I showed this awesome PHONESCOPE for a smartphone for $25.

I guess this would be the better site to show it, so here it is again.

Is the white part a "light hood"? Doesn't look like it has any lights as part of its design so you must need to shine lights onto the white hood.

I believe you could use the light right on your "iphone" instead of an external light source...just a guess though.

Judging from the pics on their site, the attachment fits completely around the camera's lens, so unless iPhones use ringlights right at the lens, it'll function as a diffuser. That certainly seems to be their intent for it.
