well the 36.55 he got for all 50 of them would only pay for 2 coins being slabbed so I don't really see where it would be worth slabbing a blank planchet because their premium isn't enough to cover slabbing and shipping to and from the grading company. I could be wrong with my assessment because I don't collect errors or anything but I am just going by that auction itself

Blank planchets only cost a couple of dollars each, so they're not really worth getting slabbed. Do the pictures seem fishy to anyone else? The coin on the top right kind of appears to have the memorial building on the back...then again maybe I'm seeing things.

Planchets are not common but they are not rare either. Their value doesn't justify the expense of slabbing as you can usually purchase them for a couple bucks a piece. Some of the ones pictured in the auction are spotted which would reduce their value as well.

yes I noticed that too, about the coin that appears to have the memorial building on it.It does seem a bit strange since the auction is for unstruck cents.

There are some blank planchets in there but I do also see what looks like remnants of the Lincoln Memorial on some of them. I'm not saying anything for sure but some may have been home made.

Also is it common for blank planchets to see that much wear?
