G'Day all, I have been keeping an eye on the price's of the 2015 $2. At the start of the release the Price People where trying to get " The Newness Factor " was a total joke!
It is a total put off on Coin Collecting, just want's me to go back to our Pre-Decimal's!
Any way does any one think that the "so called Mint" will Release these Coin's in the usual form's ie; Mint Marks, Pnc's ect?
If so it would be better off to buy Mint Uncirulated coin's in this format & at the same prices that these hoarders are trying to flog off.
To me things are just way out of hand and is putting a Damper on Collecting.
Cheer's People's!!

Hi jpl,

I'm relatively new to coin collecting and unfortunately got caught up in all the hype surrounding those mint bags.

Ended up paying way too much in hindsight. I suppose all I can do now is pick out the best coins from the mint bag and sell off the others to try and recoup some money.

Most of the coins in the bag had small marks from the mint process.
A couple were really nice which I'm keeping.

I think some of the more experienced coin collectors would of seen the drop in prices coming. But I went into heaps of banks and the tellers said they hadn't seen any red $2 Anzac coins and would keep them if they found them.

Cheers,

Brett

I think what exacerbated the problem was some poor quality strikes of the 2014 Remembrance 2 dollar coin. As some were sold for more than 50 dollars each, some may have the impression that all color coins, including circulated condition coins are worth more than face value. Therefore, this could have sparked a huge interest in finding the first poor quality strike 2015 ANAZC 2 dollar coin.

I'm still looking for a 2015 Least We Forget $2 coin.
The mint is not issuing them carded. I understand they were only for circulation.
Anyone have a lead for an uncirculated one?

Normally the mint teams up with Australia Post and commemoratives that aren't in sets are put in a PNC though I'm not sure if any of the commemorative $2 coins have had that treatment or not.

It certainly brings out the worst in people.
One of the first coins to be auctioned went for $100 now just a couple of weeks later you can get them for $10 each.
For some people who had contacts in banks this was a purely money making exersize and the losers were genuine coin collectors who just wanted a coin for their collection.
I dont think there will be any chance for finding this coin in your change.

Normally the RAM issues an NCLT version of the coin with a C mintmark for all the PNCs and carded coins.

Cheer's MOR's, It really is a disappointment! not in it for the Money!!
Im just gonna wait for the PNC'S, I think there is no mint Marks on those,
( will have to double check my one's ) But I'm sure that the Carded Version does have a Mint Mark. Have a bit of a "memory block" at the moment!
So I will pop out a Fresh Coin from the PNC, no Bag Marks there & for the same price too. That's if they do Release them?
I haven't even looked for the coin, To much Stress on a Relaxing Hobby.

i was lucky to purchase the 2015 red $2 at under $150 , was tempted when the bags were priced at 400 but good thing I waited. Price dipped at about $100 a bag but seems to be going back up :)
hopefully in 1 year they will be over $200 a bag.

Um, if you can buy on ramint.gov.au, (https://eshop.ramint.gov.au/2015-2-...921.aspx)you can buy a bag of 5 coins for $10. They are limited to one bag per "customer" (or should I say account). The postage will probably cost another $10.
I brought a bag of 5 coins, because I wanted a couple of other things. But there is no f...ing way that I'm spending $5 plus dollars on a circulated one.
