Hello everyone! Some of you might remember this coin from a post I made last December. The dealer said he would go down $20 on it. So that means it is now within my small budget! I may pick this one up in a week so it can be delivered to me before I leave. Septimius Severus AR Denarius Dea Caelestis riding a lion 3.94 Grams. Struck between 202- 210 CE. This coin was struck with both Caracalla and his Father portraits and celebrates a water construction project in Carthage. The records of this project have unfortunately been lost to time. Tell me what you guys and girls think! Oh, and feel free to post your Severus coins or coins with cats on them! EDIT- here are a few portraits of the good Emperor. A very nice coin, A.M. Your collection is coming along well. Unfortunately my Septimius Severus coins do not have a 'cat' on them, but here they are anyway. AND

Hey cat or no cat, a Denarius is still a Denarius! I really love the obverse portrait on the OP coin. You can actually see the "Berber" features pop out of Severus on this coin.

I think that I found another couple of coins. This one has a horse on it. Will that do? And this one doesn't.

I think we are not on the same page, Chris. (I should have been more specific) the dealer reduced the price by $20. Unfortunately this coin is not for sale at $20 :)

That is a nice 'IN CARTH' denarius. I hope you are able to add it to your collection. I remember reading somewhere that there are minor variants of this coin, with Dea Celestis facing either backwards or forward if I remember correctly. I specially like Severus' legionary denarii, and was able to find a few: Legio Augvsta, Italica, Gemmina. Recently I was able to find also a Legio Adiutrix.

Congratulations on the nice coins. This is probably my favorite coin in my collection, even if it is slabbed.

Sorry for the delayed response. It's been a busy day. I just love those Legionary Denarii Germanicus! Lovely eastern mint Denarius, DG. Also very nice coins the bob and Captain!
