Just curious on initial thoughts for these.

I like the Jackson Capped Bust Half-Dollar Liberty and along with the overall popularity of Andrew Jackson this might be a winner. If the prices remain the same as the Dolley Madison coin though, I might pass...haven't decided yet.

As far as Van Buren, I have mixed feelings.

I don't think I'll be purchasing any more of the First Spouse coins unless they drastically cut production or they feature one of the Liberty heads. I might go for some of the more popular First Spouses such as Mary Lincoln, Eleanor Roosevelt, Jackie O. but will probably pass on the rest.

Anyone else have any thoughts on these?

I for one love the designs on both of these coins, I just wish the mint could do something that classy on one of our circulating coins. I am sick of dead presidents. I don't buy that series, too expensive for me, but I may wind up with those two. I personally have no interest at all in first spouses. But I do like the concept of putting an image from a circulating coin of the presidents era on them for those who were not married in office.

I tried desperately to buy one of the First Spouse coins each and every time they came out....... they had either sold out or I waited too long.....So I told myself.....when this Dolley Madison comes out I'm going to get one no matter what and immediately !! Well, of course, I did......but I had the misfortune of the raised price this time. I won't sell the coin for 30 years if ever.....but I felt pretty unlucky ! And of course now I don't want to participate in that series either !!
I understand the roller coaster ride of the "spot price gold/silver market" but they really are just trying to make a lot of money off of people.
I have to admit though, if there is a First Lady that I admire enough.....and historicaly very popular....... I may be tempted to purchase another one at some point.....but certainly NOT the whole series like I was considering.
Who knows ? Maybe 30-40 years from now Gold will be $2,300.00 an ounce instead of $800.00 like right now........... what was Gold worth 90 years ago ? 150 years ago ? It always goes up "IF" you wait long enough right ?

I also don't plan on purchasing anymore of the First Spouse coins. I was able to get both Jefferson coins. I thought the Jefferson first spouse would be a real winner, was I wrong. With the limit of one proof and one uncirculated per household, I didn't think I'd see too many for sale on ebay. I just did a search and found 113 examples for sale, most don't even have any bids on them.

I think this series is a bit of a dud. I'm seriously considering selling mine real soon, while the spot price of gold is still high. If I'm lucky, I'll get my money back.
