I picked this up and would like to know what you think of it. Here are 4 pictures not sure which ones I like best. I caught a little glare on the REV's but am doing this quickly. Another question for you guy's as well. I am thinking of resubmitting this coin to have NCG CONSERVE it as well because of obvious concerns. The question is, do you think they can help it and will they re-slab it as well? Thanks in advance

I may be missing something here, but what are the areas on the coin conservation would be needed? All I see are spots where the plating has blistered/split, which I assume is common for broadstrikes.

Yes, those areas as well as the 'gunk' on the reverse on the 'E CE' of one cent.

Ah, I see the gunk now. You're right, it does have the greenish-bluish hue rotting look to it. I could see sending it in to get that treated so it doesn't spread. The eye appeal of this coin is fantastic and it'd be great to keep it that way.

I don't see the multi-struck? Would the cost of conservation/re-slabbing justify the retail value? John1

Well, I'm not really looking at retailing it. I would just like to keep it in the Best condition I can for as long as it will last.

I fail to see the multi-strike. Where is it? Also, I have many 1999 B/S like this. For me, this was a last year I had off centers and Broadstrikes coming in by the hundreds so I kept the cream of the crop for that year and the other mixed dates that came in about that time (90% from the late 1990s). I was getting them for less than a $1 each so I'm glad I kept the best of the best. I'll probably pass them on to my daughter. They are still not worth enough for me to dig out of my safe to retail. I think these coins will continue to go up in value.

Your right side light was a *tiny* bit wrong-angled for shooting through a slab and got some reflection into the lens on the reverse images. The fix is trivial. Happened only on the one side because of the difference in angle of the surface being shot, possibly. Physical locations of lighting and exposures can change between faces; this is true of Morgans to an extent.

I think the distortions in UNITED (Specifically the U and D) may be the result of the multistriking as well.

Given the Zlincoln habit of sliding the cladding around, could it possibly be the planchet itself shifting out from under the clad during a single strike?

Very nice coin! I disagree with multistruck. SsuperDdave has a great point.

No. I don't see that stuff as an active process of any sort, and the grade isn't likely to be a large selling point to a prospective buyer down the road. It's a near-perfect centered Broadstrike, fer cryin' out loud. Your bigger fear, especially since the cladding is broken, is the zinc doing what zinc does. This is a Zlincoln which needs to be preserved for the ages, and it's already bubbling and corroding in places. Me, I'd be shooting the heck out of it so there's enough images to offer whatever view necessary down the road, and then that thing goes permanently (well, occasional display won't hurt) into something extremely airtight and dessicant-equipped, away from sun. I won't suggest how many layers, because I'm obsessive.

All I see is a broadstrike. NGC often labels coins "multi-struck" when there's no evidence to support that conclusion.
