I was involved in the bidding on this Constantius II camp-gate, but it got too rich for my blood.

It's an unlisted bare-headed bust of RIC, Vol. VII, #158 from Nicomedia. There is a footnote in RIC mentioning an example with a bare-headed bust.

I don't think I've ever seen this bust type on a Constantinian camp-gate.

Thanks for those links. That seller has some beautiful coins for sale. I do not collect LRBs or I might have bid on a number of them because of the condition. Sorry you missed out on the coin.

nice looking coin, but look at the final bid. to me, it's a nice looking kind of unusual campgate. I must be something much more than that to the bidders.

RIC knew of one example and Beast Coins has one example, so it must be a pretty rare type.
