Can anyone tell me how to distinguish between the Canadian and the German planchett? Thanks for any help you can provide.

There is a way but I wouldn't attempt it on circulated pieces. The German planchets were struck with higher pressure, so the parallel line finish on the fields is unbroken around the base of the letters.
