We had a few USFL Championship rings posted here years ago that were stolen. I spoke to the detective on the case on the phone for about an hour.
He told me when he has any downtime he just cruises Youtube and Facebook for morons that post videos/pictures of themselves breaking the law. Said he makes dozens of busts a year that way.
The sad part about this video is that there are hundreds (or more) of people who would do the same thing. Too many people care about getting recognition on social media. It seems to be what they live for and it puts them in prison, costs them their jobs, etc. I truly believe society in general is a lot less intelligent than it was prior to the widespread social media use.
Nah those incredibly dumb ones have always been out there, they just didn't have the means to publicly advertise it to a wide audience. Before social media only those close to you knew how stupid you were. Now everyone does.

Well, last year my school's graduation rate was 98%. This year it'll be in the neighborhood of 65-75%. Based on what my sophomore sister says about the students in her classes, I wouldn't be surprised if the graduation rate falls closer to 50% in the next two years. And EVERY single person that I have tutored in a variety of subjects has had an iPhone and they frequently check it for texts or social media.
I had one tutee that was completely incapable of individual thought because she kept on checking her iPhone every few seconds and could not remain focused on the task at hand. I tried to get her to spell the Spanish word 'inteligente,' which translates directly to 'intelligent' in English, herself since she had an essay test the next day. After a full minute of pronouncing each and every syllable and trying get her to spell a phonetic word, I gave up and spelled it for her.
Despite all of this, it is not social media that is cauing all of this stupidity; it is the complete lack of work ethic and care for anything outside of entertaining their own little worlds. That may be the prevailing mindset of teenagers of all eras, but I wouldn't know as I refuse to let myself fall into that trap of sub-mediocrity.
And these are the people who vote for president and to whom my tax dollars go in order to thwart natural selection and support their survival.
My dad retired from an electric company and he use to tell me some funny stories that people would say to him when he was sent to turn their power off for non-pay...
