PCGS graded it a problem free XF-40. It seems to have at least 45-53 details so my guess is that they net graded it to reflect the possible dipping. I won it for $30 so I think I got a fair deal.
PCGS doesn't "net grade for details." I cannot imagine why they let this one pass. I simply cannot imagine it; it's so obvious even in imagery (and I rarely say I'm sure about anything just from imagery) that there is no doubt an amateur graded this one. Regardless of who signs his checks.
Readers, this is not an original-surfaces coin, and regardless of what PCGS said do not believe a coin worn to XF level with surfaces this clean and homogenous to have original surfaces.
Never.
With that said, the price was pretty nice regardless of what it is.
