Hi there every one, I would like to know from your point of view if this would and could pass as a DD Error. As you can see that the date 1986 with only the numbers 9 8 6 looking double. Also would any of you consider sending this penny to have it graded for the possibility of an error, Only if its worth it

Shadow doubling from die wear. Very common.

I recently found a 1986 D Memorial cent just as you described.
I sent it to Littleton Coin Co and they called it a "shadowed"
coin not a true dd. They could not put a value on it because they had no knowledge of any and therefore nothing to compare it to for placing a value. Please respond. Don

It's worth 1 cent and nothing more. They are very common and can be found in circulation any day.

I agree with the others. Common and no added value. I found one just before I logged one on the same dated cent before I logged on and put it with the rest for circulation.

I was going to say it is called "flat-field doubling", caused from extreme die wear. Chuck, can you verify this term, ot correct my terminology, Please?
