Hi Everyone,

Wondering if anybody on the forum has coins from the 2013 "Bald Eagle" series in their collection?

I picked up "Portrait of Power" and "Returning From the Hunt" on a discount sale from one of the more popular coin companies, and both coins have what look to be metallic shards inside of the capsules. These shards appear to be adhered to the face of the coin, possibly as a result of the minting process.

Does anybody else have coins from this series with this issue, or is my problem a "one-off"? I'm deciding on whether I should keep or return...

Have attached a quick reference photo from my phone.

Any input is appreciated!

I have the four-coin series in my collection, but haven't noticed any metallic debris in the coin capsules. Metallic "shards" within RCM coin capsules is not common; lint, however, is very common.

You might consider opening the capsule and using a can of compressed air in an attempt to blow away the surface debris. DO NOT use your mouth to blow on the coins as you will likely deposit droplets of moisture on them that will turn into unattractive spots in time.

Mine are the same - almost all with 'dandruff'. You won't be able to remove it as it will leave a streak behind. These coins are coated with something and if you remove the metal debris you're left with their impressions on the coin surface.
Poor quality from the RCM, but they are just interested in making money after all...

One good reason to buy directly from the RCM is you can return /exchange no extra cost plus you maintain your M/C member ship.

I could go into reasons not too but I wont lol.

Buying coins on the secondary market is not so forgiving, although most places will allow returns if your not happy with the coin.

I had the same issue, just use a microfibre cloth and gently wipe the metallic dust pieces off. It worked for me and my coin has no visible scratches at all. Give it a try!
