philadelphian Pillar of the Community United States 3253 Posts	Posted 05/17/2015 12:34 am Good for you! Not the rarest of varieties, but one with a design unique among Fugios. The low U gives the obverse away as 15. The heavy vertical crack (actually, lost die metal between cracks) in the middle of ring 7 (the ring at 5:00) is diagnostic of reverse Y, which has the unique feature. Instead of the incuse cinquefoils that separate STATES and UNITED that are seen on just about every other Fugio, there are two raised eight-pointed stars. Reverse Y was only paired with obverse 15, so this is the only die variety with those stars. Congrats! Report this Post to the Staff

This historic coin sold for about a fourth of what mid-grade 1909-S VDB's are fetching nowadays, yet the Fugios are much rarer in terms of availability.
