took a chance on this one for 8 bucks or so. Details look like they could be vf but with the blurry photos nobody bid on it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1852-large-...p=true&rt=nc

thats what I thought too Ed. On another note I got back the 2 1851 large cents I sent to Mr. Grellman today and they were confirmed to be N-33 and N-45. His book is very helpful in trying to attribute these coins.

It's a good thing I'm bald because attributing Braided Hairs will make you pull your hair out.

Do you have Grellman's latest edition? If so is it much better than the one he did with Jules Reivers? That is the one I have, the book, not the original 3 ring binder set.

I've been thinking of upgrading my copy to the new edition, and forgot to look for one at the EAC Convention last month, DOH. So I'm not really sure just how much changed. I can't really attribute these late dates below VF really EF is also tough to tell for sure. Hoping the newer edition has better photos and descriptions.

I think I do have the latest edition. It says copyright 2001 on it. Makes it a little easier although like you said its harder when the coins are worn.

Thanks Jerry, My copy is ©1987 so your's is the last one, are there any color or B&W photos? Mine is all line drawings, good but not great. I wonder if my edition is worth upgrading to the newer one? Probably not since I just got the Late Date volumes from Bill Noyes as well, (expensive set there) Though I must admidt I haven't even really cracked them open yet, too many books I'm reading right now.
