As I am no variety expert, I suspect I was wrong in guessing left and later suspecting the middle; anyhow, we want to know!

The difference is clear to me.

Concentrate on the area of the ear.

Now that you know, concentrate on the "coarser" hair features, the lesser relief of the whole head and the differing detail of the ear. The prominent horizontal "S" shape in the hair above the ear - that first deep one - is usually a good telltale because it's deeper than the earlier design.

It's always the chin that makes the 1921's look "off" to me.

The hair has a much "softer" look on the pre 1921 Morgans and less stringy.

There are other places about the head and cap which are subtly different enough once you have looked at a lot of xf/au and higher grade pre 1921 Morgans that when you see a 1921 it will be obvious it is "different" than an earleir one.

Well... that's a 1/3 of the mystery. Now: what are the other two? I got the 21 right and added I thought the one on the left was an "S" mint (early on ) coin and the center an "O".
So; pray tell, witch'uns which?
