Can someone please tell me how to remove the coins
from the 2007 mint sets to put them in Danco albums.
The thought of running an Exacto knife around the diameter
makes me freak.
There must be a better way,
how are all of you removing them?

Is it a mint set or a proof set ?

for the encased proofsets ,,I usually just start a knife blade at one corner and then pry up a little ,,they are not secured all that hard .

Mint sets are usually in mint cello.

Thanks Amac I quit buying mint sets for the ultra modern ,,I seem to get better coins from bank rolls .

I always cut them up anyway I could not justify paying more than face value for them .

blcoinnut, I don't think there is another way to remove these. I'm looking at the set now and scratching my head trying to come up with a better idea.

An Exacto knife seems like the best idea, as long as you have a steady hand.

I think I am gonna do what Metalman does and just get rolls to get my uncirculated coins. Many times I have seen nicer coins from rolls than mint sets at times. But then I will have to go to a new bank to get new rolls since my credit union doesn't have them.

The mint sets since 2004 have a "satin" finish , I would not consider these a business strike to add to my collection .Do the albums have slots for the satin mint set coins ? The only way to get your business strikes now is through circulation, except for dollars and halves which the mint sells ...oh yeah ..and you can get business strike quarters from the mint until the State Quarter series ends.

As for getting them out...I pulled on one corner of the set near the fold and it seems like the two pieces of plastic will separate if you yank hard enough - so do it over something soft !
