I had one of these before but it didn't survive the 'crunch'! This happens roughly annually when I just can't keep up with paying off the credit card every month and need to offer numismatic sacrifices to the 'gods' of finance ! This one is a keeper for now. Nero Claudius Drusus AE Sestertius Obv. Bare head of Drusus left NERO CLAVDIVS DRVSVS GERMANICVS IMP Rv. Claudius seated amidst pile of arms holding palm branch TI CLAVDIVS CAESAR AVG P M TR P IMP S C Mint of Rome AD 41-2 33mm 27.63 grams Sear 1896 RIC 93
Reverse is a little bit coarse but what the hey ! It was a 'steal' For those who are unfamiliar with this fellow (Nero Drusus). He was the stepson of Augustus, brother of Tiberius, father of the great Germanicus, father of Claudius, grandfather of Caligula, great grandfather of Nero, as well as being a brilliant general in his own right ! Amongst other things

I like it - the portrait is quite appealing. I agree, I would love to have a Drusus denarius.

It's a small world after all... FR, if you could, I would love any provenance notes you have on this coin for my own records!

Lovely coin... is the color difference due to photographic lighting or has the coin been waxed perhaps? Really nice portrait just curious on the color change.

To be completely honest ........ I have no notes on it and can't even remember from whence it came other than the land of sauerbraten ! One of my late night bottom feeding expeditions Did I sell it off to you ? Or via a third party ?

It was from a third party; some ebay seller either purging a personal collection or trying to make a quick buck by bundling some very high-ticket items with more mundane wares.
