The best I've come across after scanning & rolling over 4,000 State Quarters. I'm sure its nothing but with the other 2 this looks like a "cheese sprouting leaf" variety lol

Man, I had to work to see that one. I was looking in all the wrong places. LOL

But once I saw it -- well, there it is -- a leaf growing out of the cheese.

Any chance that's a clash? Maybe struck through?

Here is an overlay.

But I don't think it is a clash. It might be die damage, something on the coin. If you found several examples, then it might be die damage.

Ya guys, I really don't know what to think it is. It's very uniform and looks alot like a leaf tip sprouting up but dosent appear to be raised above the field. Maybe I have the ultra rare 3rd variety "extra leaf"

Yes, but sadly it appears to be a genetically modified plant as the 'new' leaf doesn't match the others.

Set it aside.

Set aside & 2x2'd it is. Maybe I'll shoot it to ken if he wants to take a look in hand. I keep looking at it under 10x & 20x and boy does it look like more than just a stain or tone and it's so well defined like the hint ofthe tip of a back leaf I thunk it may be slightly raised too. I just don't have the mag right now to go further

After reading your last post I realized you could just send it to CONECA. It doesn't cost a lot and the mystery would be solved. Of course, I hope it's 'first reported' variety but I wouldn't count on that at all. I think those WI quarters were pretty well gone over. Still, you could learn what caused the mark.

And don't forget the marketing angle....Cheese Leaf!!

Yes, just go to their site and follow the directions.

It's probably just a scratched die or something but then so were the other extra leaf quarters. It just makes you wonder who created the Cheese Leaf for the Cheese state.
