Picked this out of my change a while back, seen it's share of parking meters. Doubled antlers and date. I'd really appreciate all opinions, thanks.

IMO it's not real, but a shed job using fake dies. The overlap is too soft and there's damage on the other side where the coin was "double struck".

I believe that slurexe is correct, this is still a cool find and representation though....fake or not I'm lovin' the 9977 on this coin.

Yep a vise job! For a "better" job you squeeze two blanks (any kind of blanks or slugs will work) together with a coin between them within two pieces of leather. Then the two blanks become soft dies and are good for one use or more; later squeezes more distorted and showing more images from later squeezes some mirror/incuse. What it must take to waist one's time making something like this so easily detected by the hobby.

That's too bad, I had high hopes for this coin, it fooled a few well educated collectors. Someone went to a lot of trouble and then put it in circulation.

what Mr. Potter described seems to be common knowledge, in fact I heard the same process being discussed today by another expert/ forum member at the coin expo. besides he has probably experimented...you need to learn about them and how to make them so you can detect them right?
