Hello! Today I bought a littleton coin co. album for franklin halfs. As of today, I only have 3 coins in it: 1949 S, 1961 D, 1963. Welp, considering I dont have a job (I'm not 16 yet ) it's going to be a while untill I finish it! Any tips, or hints about the series? I will post pictures later!

Great series to collect. Are you going after MS or circulated examples?

I would look on ebay for unc or circulated pieces for good deals. Good luck! This is the next series I want to do.

I would recommend the purchase of one or both of these books to learn about the series The Complete Guide to Franklin half dollars by Frank Tomaska and The Official Red Book: A Guide Book of Franklin & Kennedy half dollars By Frank Tomaska. Good luck in your quest to fill this album. PS, the plural of half is halves not halfs and proper names should be capitalized as in Littleton Coin Co. and Franklin.

The Franklin halves set was my first completed set, and I did it mostly through searching for the best examples I could find in the junk silver bin of my LCS. You can generally find decent examples for the spot price of silver plus the LCS premium, and if/when you upgrade a coin, it can go straight into your own junk silver stash! This is a great set to complete and very attainable for most collectors. Good luck!

You would be surprised how cheaply you can get it completed using allowance money and doing small odd jobs like mowing lawnshaha. If you just go for junk bin halves you can get it done for $7 apiece.

I would say because of your limited budget ; make up a collection of circulated Franklins. their easily found inexpensive at local coin shows, LCS. or E-BAY. Happy collecting.

My Franklyn set was completed over 30 years ago, some plucked out of circulation. I now am fascinated with proof Franklyns and you will find many later date ones will be slightly more than the circulated examples. Happy collecting.
