The rim appears weak on the side where the date is. So it may not have fully formed during the strike. Possible struck through error or weak strike from another cause. (thinned planchet?) What does the opposite side look like? Also is the weight normal?

The coin is about half the thickness on the weak side. It still weighs 2.5 Gr.

I'm thinking it's a weak strike due to a thinned planchet. Anyone know how a planchet becomes thinned?

The ends of the ingot/strip are tapered to make it easier for them to enter the rollers that reduce the strip down to the thickness needed for the blanks. These tapered ends are supposed to be cut off before the strip is put through the blanking press. If they aren't you can get a blank that is thinner on one side than on the other.
