Looks like it has been in the ground for around 45 seconds..nice touch leaving a bit of dirt on the coin.

Great find, looks to be EF!

Too bad he cleaned it. Coins like this should be left to the professionals.

Is it just me, or does that one not look right? I'm not seeing the slant in the B and everything else just looks too... sharp? Might just be my imagination though.

At this point I would send to either the PCGS or NGC professional conservation service and not damage the coin any further by trying any cleaning recommendations by anyone here.

Indeed, I saw a poster on that forum recommend catsup. NO NO NO!! This is a rare and valuable piece of history and well worth paying the money to professionals.

IMO, it must have had some protection. This is not what I typically see people pull out of the ground.
