It says in that article that the first 100's from each bank (00000001A as the suffix) could be worth as much as $15000. I wonder what the status of them is, since I've never seen any auctions or reports of them being found. Has anyone found a low serial redesigned $100 yet?

Here's a different article, same idea though.

I have heard that the BEP tries to "pull" all serial number "1" notes prior to the notes being transferred to the Fed. The pulled notes are then replaced with a star note. They supposedly do this on all denominations.

This policy may account for the rarity of serial number 1 notes from recent issues. I'm sure some inadvertently slip through the cracks.

It's possible that none of the low A suffix serials exist anymore. Immediately prior to the notes release, 3 billion dollars worth of notes were found to have (another) printing issue and were destroyed.

Maybe you're right. A Youtube user made a video of searching through 100 dollar bills IMMEDIATELY after the new ones were released, and all the new ones there were CU, but the lowest serial number was 39051644A or something like that.
