Ok so here goes: I was wondering if anyone had submitted buffalo/indian head nickels and if so have you received them back yet. I ask this in hopes of trying to get an idea of how back up they might be with submissions as my expected ship date was 5/4/15. For those that may have caught something wrong with the date vs the COTM I am referring to I submitted Morgan dollars on the prior COTM. I know of two ppl who have already received their nickels back but yet I am still waiting for my Morgan dollars. I did log into my anacs account and it said "in process of grading still". I mad a call and they told me because I selected that a handful of the coins be VAM identified that's what was holding it up. don't they handle tons of vams?.. I mean it shouldn't take them that long to attribute a few coins and how are people receiving their nickels before my morgans are done? I would figure that they would be done as they come in but maybe I am wrong. Sorry for the rant but this is only my third submission and only my 2nd with them so I figured maybe someone could shed some light other than dealers with big submissions being taken care of first. I sent in 20 morgans of which 7 or 8 to be attributed if its any help. edited for clarification. thanks, chet Edited by chettieyy 05/27/2015 12:21 am

No expert here at all, but I think their explanation seems reasonable. Not easy to be patient, I know.

Quote: I mean it shouldn't take them that long to attribute a few coins Have you ever tried to attribute a Morgan dollar VAM? It takes a lot longer than you think no matter how many you might have done previously. Twenty is not a few coins, three is a few.

@ Gyrene... I totally understand it is not always the easiest thing to attribute Morgan dollars... Just for clarification I did not send out all twenty to be attributed.. Just 7 or 8 max out of the lot of 20 were requested for attribution...Patience is a virtue, and not one I posess Thanks for the replies thus far.

Yes edweather it is.. its driving me nuts as I have a I hope MS 1886-O that I'm real curious about as it tends to be a quite costly coin in MS condition as well as a couple cc's that I bought raw and my 8tf that I couldn't figure out myself. Guess all I can do is wait

I am sure ANACS has several graders, but if I remember right all of their VAMs go through one or two folks... That could be the hold up.

Thanks for the response fromms2244... That makes alittle more sense to me on why ppl are getting nickels back and whats taking them longer to get the morgans done...I know it can be daunting task to attribute Morgan dollars... Thanks for the explanation... Just a waiting game I guess and for $8 a coin + attribution you couldn't go wrong.

What is COTM? If you use an uncommon acronym you should spell it out first so people will know what it is. For example "as soon as possible, (ASAP)."

I believe COTM is "Coin of the month"?

You're right. 8 bucks + is a great price, and from what I hear ANACS is good with Morgans, so let them do their thing.
Anyway, this is the most exciting part of the process..waiting for the grades. Enjoy. They'll post the grades to you ANACS account when they have them, right?
