This past weekend, while spending a weekend in the San Juan Islands, I was taking a walk and passed by a barn with two birdhouses next to it. I noticed a metal disc at the top of one, which appeared to be a Walking Liberty half. Moving closer, I confirmed my suspicions- each birdhouse had one affixed to the top, each dated 1935. Unfortunately, they were convex as if they had been placed in a pipe and hammered from the reverse. Here's the second one.

San Juan islands you say. I miss em! In the 90s I went to summer camp up there. Camp four winds/westward ho. I remember canoe paddling from island to island across the sound. Never came across those though

Good eye, celticsoul. That makes sense, considering the identical dates, and how they look so similar to one another.
By the way, they were on Stuart Island, in case you were wondering.

Ah stewart island, I remember it. I was at deer harbor/orcas island area. Not too far from stewart.

Quote: Hey Ed , maybe the thick rim on bottom of obverse ? Yeah, and the second one has what looks like a double rim on the obverse, you can almost see the casting seam on the edge. I didn't look that close initially.

+1 for the TMBG reference. Not to put too fine a point on it.
