I've been collecting coins for more than 50 years, but not until this year did I take notice of U.S. type collections. Is Dansco going to resume making type set albums? The only other ones I can find online are Intercept Shield. I was able to get a Dansco album, though I had to pay a pretty penny.

IMO albums are incomplete.
They don't cover many design varieties within an issue.
EXAMPLE: There are three design varieties but all of the albums I've seen only include two.

Whitman 3688 20th & 21st Centuries & Whitman 9138 United States type set are a couple more but as these are older they are also "incomplete" I've seen the newer Whitman folders but don't know the numbers of them, They are more inclusive.

I'm putting together a type album aswell. Its a black 3 ring binder. I bought those plastic 2x2 sheets that hold like 20 coins. Cost me all of 5$ and I will get to include every coin I'll ever need with just another plastic page and some rearranging of some 2x2s.

I put together a 20th-21st type set collection using blank Whitman pages. That worked out pretty well. There are plenty of blank slots left over. I wouldn't want too many varieties of coins (in a 19th-20th century type set album) since it would cost a fortune to complete the collection.

I love my type set that I am building from Intercept Shield. Dansco may never make theirs again. The new IS covers a lot of new coins and while Kanga is correct in that it doesn't cover all the variations, it is still an excellent type set album IMO.

My problem with Intercept Shield was that their album was a little bigger than Dansco's, and I can barely fit my other Dansco albums into my safe deposit box.

I'm not a type set person but if I was going to try, I'd use the 2x2's in one of those 20 pocket plastic page setups and a 3 ringed binder to make my own.

Folks keep asking for Dansco to come out with a new album but I don't think they have said anything. It may be that it's going to take two albums to cover all the coins.

Figured this is the best setup to do,you get to make it and include whatever coins you'd like and can add and subtract coins as often as you want with no worries. I kind of like it better actually since I put mine together.

I like the 1998 Littleton "United States Type Coins" three ring book because it will throw stunning colors onto the coins in 10-15yrs AND they have a sheet behind each page with the coins and info printed on them to act as "shadow" placeholders. Makes em look full

Yes, it tones the coins but tones them well with stunning colors across different alloys. I guess it just has the right sulfur content but whatever it is if you like beautifulLY toned mint state coins I recommend it. And it dosent seem to do much for circulated coins so the old biggies should be fine

I have the exact album Cascade is talking about. My dimes have turned a shade of dark blue.
