So I am trying to sell stuff to save for other coins and was wondering if anyone had an idea of what to do with NIFC Kennedys? I could just deposit them for face but anyone know a place other than ebay that would give more if they are in really nice condition? Probably a pipe dream but I am curious.

If you acquired them from circulation you probably will not get more than face value so either using them for spending money or depositing them in the bank are the most practical ways to go.

Spend them.

After siting on $1000 worth and unable to unload them last year I finally came to the realization that they aren't worth more than face. However it was nice to have used them as a savings vessel as I had $1000 to buy something else with.

There are too many roll hunters trying to get rich on ebay with NIFC and common error coins. That is why 1974D DDO and 1982 no FG halves can't even get the $10 opening bid when the RedBook and price guides say they are worth 5X or even 10X that.

The basic supply and demand model

The problem with holding on to $1000 of circulated Kennedy halves is that that $1000 will not be worth the same later. While it will still be $1000, unless te coins appreciate in value faster than the inflation rate you will be losing money as long as you hold them.

Coins are a good investment, but they have to be the right coins. Clad Kennedy halves don't appreciate, even if they are unusual.

Heck, I have a jar of IFC Kennedys that I need to turn in for exactly the reasons that n9jig mentioned.

However, I'd have a hard time spending NIFC's that I found in circulation/rolls. Then again, at my rate I'd only get 1 or 2 a decade, and I think I can afford to lose to inflation on those.

I am with the consensus. Deposit them. The time and effort required would erase whatever premium you managed to get from selling them.

1. Put them up on ebay as very, very rare Half Dollars.
2. Put them on ebay and state you found them in a basement and have no idea what they are.
3. Pass them out on Halloween instead of candy
4. Take them all to a bank.

I like the idea of passing them out at Halloween. Maybe you will get some kids into coin collecting!
