my neighbor has a metal detector and was searching around my hundred plus year old house.He found this coin I can't find anything on it. So any help would be much appreciated what is it in is it worth anything
it has an Indian bust with the face pointing left on the front with 16 stars around the perimeter and no writing
on the back it says sterling silver co
on top in the middle it has the British pound mark and on the bottom it says sterling Ill USA

Sweet! thanks for finding that my wife and I scour the internet for hours last night it was driving us crazy. so what is it? its not a form of currency then is it? and is it worth anything?

You've entered the world of exonumia, coins struck for a purpose other than legal tender. This piece would qualify as an advertising token; it gives the name and location of a firm, its logo, and a slogan ("Sterling Quality"). It's not a trade token; if it were, it would say something along the lines of "Good For One Spool of Baling Wire," though it's always possible these were redeemable at Sterling Manufacturing for some kind of promotion.
