Why does everyone always suggest getting customer wrapped rolls? I understand you could "hit it big" if someone cashed in a roll of pure buffalos or old Jeffs from an inheritence but what are the odds of that? Honestly I've had the best luck with brinks rolls. Sure you're going to get some newer coins in there but both of the Buffalos I've found CRH came from Brinks rolls.

Carlos...you are a mad man! I know you're not alone but think about it: in about 2 years, you will be at the spot Jon (and his son) are at now. A few weeks after that, you're all tied up. If you both quit then, I'll catch up to you both in about 11 or 12 years! Easy peasy. Happy hunting folks!

Quote: Jack - nice pics of your nickel collection in the post you referenced! How do you keep the coins from getting smudged up in a book like that? The front protective slides were removed for the photos. I have upgraded 4 or 5 coins from roll hunting and a trade since the pics were taken. https://goccf.com/t/200728&SearchTerms=trade

I have really slowed on nickels. My time is being spent on Halves and dimes. I get 4 boxes of halves per week. and the occasional bag of dimes. It really strains the eyes looking at Nickels.

Elimist,
I use the same two banks for both getting boxes and returning boxes. They expect me to return boxes so they can sell coin to people who need change, generally businesses.

Quote: Why does everyone always suggest getting customer wrapped rolls? When I was an active hunter, that was all I had. I seldom saw a machine roll back then and I had never seen a box until after joining CCF.

I am the luckiest one to have completed a set of circulated Jefferson nickels within 1 month and less than 50 boxes searched.

I gave up counting how many boxes I had searched when I was actively coin roll hunting, I found the 1950 proof but never found the 1950 d. What are the odds of that lol?

This thread is encouraging since I am about to start nickel coins from Liberty to Jefferson. I didn't plan on it but when we inheretid a nice Buffalo collection from my father in law I decided to go a head, starting with Liberties (I already have 1912 s & d)!

Perottin- very nice on the 1912-s liberty..where did you find that one? I've got most of the common V's but no 12-s!
