As it says on the 2x2, it's been "crushed". PMD, not error.

Possibly a Mint-cancelled coin. I'm not familiar with this particular "crushing" design, but many countries officially devalued their older coinage in this way.

Come to think of it, the crushing design is a LOT like that on my Mint-cancelled 1935 5 Mark. <g>

Aboslutely a mint-cancelled coin. There is a whole collecting community out there, after these things.
