you need to compare side by side with a dollar that has NOT had it's original lustre disturbed. Then the differences become more obvious. This coin looks "shiny" but not lustrous.....it looks "bright" but not "brilliant" It looks more metallic, but less silvery....the differences are very subtle but become obvious with some experience.

From the pics it actually does look cleaned, it just wouldn't of been as harsh of a cleaning as others have had. I also always consider the fact it might of gotten like that by accident somehow.

Normic67 - You mean like accidentally dropping it in a container of silver cleaner ?

I don't know what I mean, its 68 years old and could of been anywhere. Maybe if it did fall in silver cleaner that the owner didn't notice it for a while and it got soaked but would it of been soaked in any way.

I do see a little dot but I don't know if its the one that makes it worth more.

Oh you met that one, that's not the dot. The one I was seeing is down and a little to the right.

As far as I've been informed, the Dot here is the right on for the Dot variety, just a little to the right of the 7 parallel to the middle of the curved end.

You can see where it has been buffed, on the Island behind the canoe.

I am just wondering if it was Jewelers Rouge ? Or maybe Sams Autobody that destroyed this coin. What a shame another key date piece ruined by a severe polishing.
