Do any Proof Cameos exist in the Matte Proof Lincoln Series?

I suspect the matte proof process will not produce cameos, but ?

Cameo on proof is intentional, not accidental. Therefore, by design, the matte proof will not have cameo.

Not always, but with the way the matte proofs were made you are correct they will not have a cameo. The entire die face was etched evenly so there will be no cameo contrast between the fields and devices.

So why were matte proofs made in the first place? Was it experimental or ?

At the time they thought collectors liked it better than mirror proofs.

The design of the Lincoln wasn't able to get be polished. So they took exceptional business strike dies and sand blasted them to be made as proofs. The design wouldn't incoporate the polishing until later on in the series. The Matte proofs went from 1909-1916 with a few 1917 mattes out there I believe.
