What are the rarest/most expensive dates in the 1941-1974 Lincoln Cent series? I have a Whitman folder I'm looking to fill up, and I want to know what the rarer ones will cost me.

1955/55 Doubled Die is the most expensive one, but many people don't include that in a regular series collection. There aren't any key dates in those years, most of them are fairly affordable unless you are only collecting high grade examples.

When I said high grades I meant like MS67- MS68, not raw coins from uncirculated rolls.

You will be paying a premium for buying coins with grades in slabs, and then what crack them out and put them in a Whitman of all albums? Your best bet is just to buy nice raw, fully detailed coins. You can probably fill that page up for under 400$

For that date range there are no "key" dates (other than varieties). Cost will be totally based on condition.

If you are trying to fill a book with Lincolns from 1941-1974 go with the very best possible.

Very nice Mally27..

All of them (exept for the 1943 issues) can be pulled from boxes of cents. I've completed my 1940-present this way, minus some upgrades. Some of the rarer dates are the 1947 S LWC, 1968 S LMC, 1971 S LMC, 1972 S LMC, 1973 S LMC (the LMC's are only scarce in BU), and any doubled dies.

It will depend somewhat on whether you are going for circulated condition coins or uncirculated.

Some collections call for a 1970-S Small Date, which is probably the toughest or most expensive coin in the bunch. If you are going for uncirculated condition coins, I found the 1942-S to be somewhat more expensive than most others although it's not like it was outrageous - like $15 instead of $3-5 for some of the earlier dates in that series.
