were minted solely in London ?

London made "normal" sovereign designs. Sydney, Australia was the only other mint in the Empire making sovereigns in 1869, and those had the unique "Sydney Mint" design.

1869 London Sovereign is a common date. Mintage was 6,441,322. I don't know of records for each die no. but die numbers are known from 1 to 76.
