There is such a thing but its called a repunched Mint mark or RPM for short.
your coin however appears to be machine doubled not an RPM.

I believe I can identify that one without knowing the date of the coin. It's definitely an RPM (repunched mintmark), no question about it. I believe it's 1955D-1MM-002 - a nice, but very common one. Value in circulated grades is around $1. If the coin is a 1955D, that's what it is. If it's a different date, then obviously I have it wrong...but it's still an RPM.

The date is machine doubled also ,,exactly like the mint mark ,, but if its an RPM its an RPM.
coppercoins is definitely the one who would know .

I see some die wear evident on the bottom of the date digits, but I don't see any Machine Doubling. No doubt this is a strong RPM, and I think I pegged its identification without knowing the date on the coin.

I got to hand it to Coppercoins, you nailed this one right on the spot BUDDY, It is a 1955D copper penny. ziggy9, thingee, Metalman, Jorgy Ill post some photos but I have to adjust my Cammy before I do that. Thanks
