Nice coin, Ron. I love how often you (and others on this board) highlight coinage from off the beaten path.

Thanks Bob. Most collectors seem to concentrate on Roman or Greek coins. They did rule large regions throughout Europe and into the Middle East, But there were also other powerful empires that were not under their control which had just as interesting a history as they did. I realized that to fulling know about the Ancient and Medieval world I had to also study and collect from these other empires.

So I guess it's likely that the fellow(s) who struck this coin were among those killed shortly thereafter...creepy, but adds to its story and interest.

Nice than my example. It's a coin with a dark, dark history.

Wow, fascinating coins. Thanks for the backstory. It is stories such as these that keep me interested in ancient coins.

These coins were struck out of need and desperation so tend to be lightly struck and off centered. Yours is an nice coin Chuy.

Interesting coin Ron. I have a coin of Honorius (the Gloria Romanorum/emperor with two captives type) struck in Rome while it was under siege by the Visigoths from 408-410 AD.

'Adl khaqan al-A'zam is normally translated as "Justice of the Great Khan" or "the Just Great Khan."
