"Young archaeologists uncover a coin from the era of King Edward I at Wark Castle.

The discovery of the coin was made by Will Nicholson, aged nine, whilst working alongside his friend Jack Young, also nine, both from Duns"

Whether or not he'd be allowed to keep it probably revolves around what the agreements were signed regarding artifacts, before they started digging. Since an archaeological society was funding the dig site the kids were helping out at via funds raised through the National Lottery, I doubt the agreements would include entitling the finders to keep anything they find. All the finds, including the coin, probably go to the museum.

Besides, as a member of a "young archaeologist's club", he probably wouldn't want to keep it.
