I know they started making pennies in 1982 mostly out of zince with copper plating, correct? Are there copper 82's and if so, are they common? Thanks. Jeff

In 1982 the Lincoln Cent was made with both copper and zinc. I have heard of a few 1983's found that were copper. Those are the ones to watch for.

In 1982 there were seven different varieties of Lincoln cents produced for circulation. The one to watch for is the 1982-D small date Copper!
There is a reverse doubled die that is pretty rare also.

If you find either of those, you can hire someone else to do the searching for you!

Thanks for the info, the 82-D small date copper isn't listed on Coop's diagram. Jeff

I know it's not listed, I don't think any have ever been found, that's why it would be so valuable!
Like a 1983 or 1943 Copper cent.
