Classic Coins Pillar of the Community United States 940 Posts	Posted 06/09/2015 4:56 pm I would agree that it looks like it should be valued near melt, although it's hard to put my finger on why. It seems to have an unusually high number of abrasions in the fields, although it doesn't have the typical look of a polished or rag-wiped coin where the abrasion lines are parallel. It sort of looks like it was rolled around in the dirt, then washed. Report this Post to the Staff

I'm not too worried about the surfaces - gold not only picks up skritches when you breathe on it, it also looks worse than other metals with marks in the fields. Report this Post to the Staff
