I am going to let this coin go and would like your opinions on its grade and worth . Is it just a melt value coin ? Seems a little rough.

I would agree that it looks like it should be valued near melt, although it's hard to put my finger on why. It seems to have an unusually high number of abrasions in the fields, although it doesn't have the typical look of a polished or rag-wiped coin where the abrasion lines are parallel. It sort of looks like it was rolled around in the dirt, then washed.

AU-53 and worth more than just melt.

This one makes a convincing argument for AU55, and is probably worth near $400 in the market. I'm not too worried about the surfaces - gold not only picks up skritches when you breathe on it, it also looks worse than other metals with marks in the fields.
