Was going threw some of my "S" cents last night and spotted this 1970s with some date doubling on the top. Probably just mechcanical but thought I would ask anyway before putting it away and labeling it.

Having some problems with the camera so these are the best for now.

Not sure why I put 1970S everywhere. Guess becuase I am going through a roll of them as I posted this. But its a 1972S for the record.

could be one od the doubled dies. Do the rest of the letters on the obverse display doubling?

I don't see any indication of any other doubling other then the date.

hmmm could be Die Deterioration or simply Machine Doubling.
I'll let someome more familiar with the 72 S come and chime in. I'm a n00b lol

It doesn't take someone familiar with a 1972S cent, the signs are all the same no matter what the date reads. Obvious flattened areas, no notching anywhere, and the doubling makes the affected devices thinner than normal, not thicker than normal. These are all classic signs of Machine Doubling.
