Paulsz - Can't really answer that as I don't have the coin in hand, it was sold on ebay but near the tress looks like a fingerprint to me although I'm not sure it would make a difference in the grade.

But here is the ebay link to the actual coin:

That is such a beautiful 65 from ICCS. So hard to find a large dollar surface so mark free.

In the past few years,..I've seen baggy dollars and 50 cent pieces graded by them as 65's..so I don't get this one..

An ms66 dime cannot be compared to an ms66 dollar.

Unfortunately, it's apples to oranges.

What I have noticed lately is more of an ICCS acceptance of MS66/67 grading. PCGS has been grading coins as high as MS70 I believe. It seems that the MS66 is the New Norm and that MS65 have been dethroned as the King of Grades. This coin was at one point graded at MS65 because ICCS might not have graded higher (MS65 being the perfect coin). But now, there seems to be a demand for micro grading.

It is my opinion that if regraded today, ICCS might regrade it at MS66. PSGS/NGC I'm almost certain.

doubleeagle59 - Why wouldn't the dime becompared? Because of the potentially limited usage that the dollar would get as compared to the dime ?

TaeKenDo, you can't compare the two because the dollar is a bigger, heavier coin and will by nature take more hits in the fields - and be allowed to do so - at the same assigned grade.
